So.
This is now my 3rd bleed since 12th nov.
It is also dark brown (which a quick google search tells me is bad)
But...I had a scan and endometrial biopsy last may and my latest smear (June) was normal. I have also recently been on HRT for 3 months which I have stopped.
How likely is it to be serious? :(
Am so fed up of it all...my periods have always been a nightmare but this is getting ridiculous.
Thoughts?
Dr said I should go back next week for swabs (I think she is thinking infection?)

Was going to suggest going private as that's what I did. To be fair, my GP was very good and took my mid-cycle bleeding seriously. She sent me for a scan which showed nothing more than fibroids. She was unsure of the way forward so contacted a gynaecologist at the local hospital for advice. The advice was to take a "wait & see" approach but I didn't want to "wait & see" so got referred to a private gynaecologist instead. He quickly confirmed that the fibroids were the problem and they are being removed via hysteroscopy next week which will also allow him to see if there are any other issues. Like you, private healthcare doesn't really sit well with me but when it's your health at stake what can you do? At least when you go private they are not constrained by budgets and can do whatever investigations are necessary quickly, unlike the NHS!

Good luck with your appointment next week, I'm sure they'll get to the bottom of it. Please let us know how you got on.

Take carex

If you do go back to HRT remember you have to allow 3 months to see if it helps and your body gets over side effects.

Why can't you take the mini pill?
This is quite important because the progestin in it is the same as in some kinds of combined HRT- but there are other types that have different sorts.

I will, thank you.
Good luck for your op x

The other thing is- forgot!- when you stopped your HRT did you do it 'properly'- in other words did you come to the end of a cycle ( with the pills) and then have a period?

If you didn't, and just stopped mid cycle or didn't have a bleed at a regular time that could be why you are having these funny off-on bleeds now.

Badvocatyuletide · 13/12/2013 14:54

No I didn't.
Just stopped.

Ahhhh!
Maybe that is why your cycle is messed up. You should finish the pack so that you have a period. It won't do you any harm to do what you've done but it might mean that your hormones are even more all over the place because you have built up the lining with the HRT but haven't followed through to withdrawing the progesterone.

Badvocatyuletide · 13/12/2013 14:59

But gp knows I did this....shouldn't she have said something!?
Oh, I'm so fed up!

Oh, god knows!
Don't know whether to leave it til after Xmas or what too do...

Considering your GP gave you oestrogen only HRT when it's not prescribed for women like you I'd not trust them to know anything!

If you can get an appt privately before Xmas then do but don't think you'd be doing anything too serious leaving it for another couple of weeks to January.

Badvocatyuletide · 13/12/2013 16:57

Well appt is made now I guess.
Just want I need coming up to Xmas!
