Chronic nerve pain

Can you diagnose nerve pain with MRI scans and blood tests? I've seen a specialist foot and ankle orthopaedic surgeon who thinks I have chronic nerve pain. Are there any other tests? I saw a neurologist ages ago who noticed I have less sensation in my lower legs, is this related?

I know I need to talk to my doctor again but I always get baffled in there!

It can't be diagnosed with mri/blood tests. They can do electrical tests (sound much worse than they actually are) that will show if your nerves are transmitting signals properly, but it can't diagnose nerve pain issues outside that.

If you are in pain, and normal pain killers don't work, then ask to be referred to the pain team who can take a better approach to pain - and don't write anything they suggest off. Managing nerve pain in particular responds to a combo of physio, drugs, acupuncture and techniques to help you deal with it mentally

Thank you, I thought you needed other tests. I recall a relative having lots of tests to be diagnosed with neuropathy. I am being referred to a pain clinic.
