I have been using nizoral cream prescribed by the GP to treat my SD. After 4 weeks of use, it's helped, I have a lot less redness around the nose and mouth, but it hasn't cleared it.

Dr Google has given me a number of ideas including nizoral shampoo as face wash, sulphur soap, smearing milk of magnesia on my face, and oregano oil.

So, wise mumsnetters, what shall I try? What actually works and isn't rubbish? Is there any point in the nizoral face washing if I am already using the prescription cream?

HOW can I get rid of it?? It's awful!!

I have also had bleeding between periods - am having investigations but did wonder if there could be some hormonal link? Are there any blood hormone or vitamin level test that I should ask for? Clutching at straws here. Have had FBC and thyroid levels checked, GP said they were fine.

Am 34 if that is relevant.

The only thing that works for me is the Boots Expert Anti-dandruff shampoo. No conditioner. Hth Smile

Grin at no conditioner!

Might give that a try, hopefully a bit cheaper than Nizoral!

Why no conditioner? I have this on my head. It itches like fuck!

Nizarol shampoo knackers my hair, so have to use less effective ones, but just cannot manage without conditioner

Conditioner - it's on my face Grin

Oh sorry! I saw nizoral & immediately thought of the shampoo! Must remember to read properly!

I used to have it on my face too - Simple moisturiser helped, but they've changed the ingredients recently and so I don't know if it'll still be effective. Sorry that's really not much help at all Grin

I was a bit slow on the uptake there Blush

I have never found anything that works and I've had it for years.
