Funny feeling in throat..

.. not sure where to post this.

DP has been complaining of a 'funny' feeling in his throat and the need to often clear his throat. He's seen 3 doctors and has been prescribed 2 courses of antibiotics and now some fungal mouthwash (as the last doctor thought the antibiotics had caused a fungal infection) - i dont think this is correct as the feeling is the same as before the antibiotics was given.

Its been 2 months and no sign of change.

He is getting increasingly anxious - the latest doctor visits was due to a panic attack and he called to make an emergency appointment.

He is convinced it is cancer and the reason he has not been diagnosed is because the symptoms are not advanced enough!

I'm at my wits end and dont know what to do! Please help me! I've tried being sympathetic. I've tried being nasty - but until it clears up I feel like our life is on hold. He is acting like he has been given a death sentence. He is depressed and cries because he is scared ...

I dont know what to do!

sorry for you and dp!
Could it be anxiety related?

Socci, DP is exactly the same altho he always seems to be convinced that everything is cancer. He had a cyst behind his ear a couple of years ago - and altho he was very worried aobut it, it was nothing like this. About a month ago, he found a tiny lump in his arm (which turned out to be a thrombosed (sp?) vein) but he was certain that was going to be cancerous. When he found out what it was, he then started worrying that the clot would come loose and get lodged somewhere bad (heart, brain) ...

He's been off work with me today (i work from home on tuesday and thursdays) and i've tried to keep him occupied - at the detriment of my own work! we went out for an extended lunch to take dd to the soft play area near home. it worked for a while but a lot of the time he sat there obviously putting himself through hell.

we're seeing the doctor tomorrow so i've given him a pad and a pen and told him to write down everything that he feels, everything that he wants to ask and told him to take it tomorrow to write down the doctor's responses.

so far we've been really lucky with the doctors - i usually get the "go away with you. you just need to lose some weight" unsympathetic doctors - but he has seen some lovely ones. i hope their patience lasts with him.

he's been referred for some Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and should be seeing someone next week for a assessment so hopefully in the log term that will help ...
