Sorry c1-7, s1-5

No idea what osteophyte is the 'osteo' part refers to bone though.

Please excuse my laymens terms I am clearly not a dr my dd has a spinal condition that has required me to try and understand these things Sad

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osteophyte

Have you got long till your review?

timidviper · 04/12/2013 21:26

The T isn't an L, there is a thoracic section between cervical and lumbar so all of this relates to the neck and the upper part of the back but beyond that I don't know

HerrenaHarridan · 04/12/2013 21:29

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spinal_cord

This link has a map of the vertebrae and timid viper is right there is a few t's between the c and the l.
Also the l's don't run in reverse as I have been thinking they do.

Dd is mainly affected in the sacral region with only the bottom to l's ever mentioned on her MRIs

KrabbyPatty · 04/12/2013 21:29

I only know that osteophytes are bone spurs.

HerrenaHarridan · 04/12/2013 21:30

Cervical. That's the one that reminds me if vaginas SmileBlush

MsUumellmahaye · 04/12/2013 21:30

no news on my review yet :( i think it was a T but i wrote it down myself so possibly made mistake.

I'm no expert at all but have had plenty of mri s after a severe back injury and ongoing problems.

I think it means that there is some fusion (sticking together) of c7, t1,t2, t3 vertebra. But something you've been born with.

Your osteophyte bars are sort of bony growths on those vertebra. These have caused the canal (gap) where your spinal cord is to be narrowed.

What it doesn't talk about is if any of he osteophytes or narrowing presses on any nerves. As that's what would cause numbness in hands and feet.

HerrenaHarridan · 04/12/2013 21:36

I have requested my first post be deleted as that was the information as I remembered it and having looked it up and supplied links to correct information I do not want to leave misleading information up.

The map on the second link has all of the vertebrae clearly labelled so you can identify which part of yourself they are referring to.

We usually have a weeks wait after scan but it had been as many as 3. Hopefully it's not to long for you

LostInWales · 04/12/2013 21:47

It looks like the bones at the top of your thoracic spine (there are 12 from base of neck down to your lower spine) are somehow more linked than would be normal and this is how you were born. There is also some linking of the vertebra in the lower c spine which looks to have occurred over time. There is a little bit of narrowing of the space where the spinal cord runs. Although there is a lot of art rather than science to the reading of these things and the scans themselves it would probably explain some numbness/tingling and a bit of pain. Massive disclaimer though - without a lot of experience and sight of the scans it is very hard to tell from a radiologists report.

I find a hot wheat bag the best thing for back pain if you ever get a moment to sit down or hang one around my neck/shoulders. It's a glamorous look for sure Wink

LostInWales · 04/12/2013 21:48

'Little bit of narrowing' not as alarming as it might sound reading that back. A lot of people seem to have some.

MsUumellmahaye · 04/12/2013 21:50

thanks herrena, hope your dds ok.

And don't for goodness sake pronounce cervical vertebra like you do for down there not the same at all but hard not to do once you try not to [bitter experience]. Try C-spine instead and you'll sound like you know what you're talking about.

MsUumellmahaye · 04/12/2013 21:54

thanks Lost thats reassuring will amble along dealing with my back pain, will get a wheat bag, just when i thought my look with my jammies and furry slippers couldn't get more glamorous :)

I have three ranged up and down my spine as I type, they are lovely and emit a lovely slightly damp lavender smell Grin sore backs are the work of the devil so I hope you can get it sorted.
