it's dd AGAIN. 11.

she had this two yrs ago, i know because i was searching threads and found my thread about it Blush

he's given amoxicillin, as i said this had happened before and we'd had to go back after 3 days to get some anyhow.

no itching, hurts where the wee comes out, labia sting a bit too. no discharge.

i bloody give up. also have a meeting with the attendence officer today at school---oh the irony. (glum pissed off ill emote)

Pirate - I must add that the whole episode - pain, discomfort, meds is quite exhausting & could wear her out. So you may want to keep DD home for a day or two until she regains her strength & is totally pain free.

piratecat · 05/12/2013 08:38

morning swimmingmom, she is asleep now. Hasn't been in to school, it hurts too much.

She wee'd this morning and was crying because it hurt so as it came out. I won't get the urine results till tomorrow, so fingers crossed the trimethoprim is the right one.

In future i will always insist on them sending off a sample, it's common knowledge that these things sometimes don't show up in early instances (dd had been in pain about 10 hrs). The doctor should have taken this into account, instead off offering her Savlon.

Oh dear, I hope she feels better soon. It shouldn't pain so much - after AB has been started. It's rather unusual. I've had bad UTI (with blood colour Confused) but even that has cleared in 24 hours. Harass the GP a bit so that they reconfirm the AB given.

Also, any reason there could be an injury rather than infection? Just in case?

FrauMoose · 05/12/2013 09:11

I get occasional bouts of pain like this. It never turns out to be an infection. In my case cutting right down on caffeine and drinking more water or herb tea invariably works. A child may not be having much coffee or tea - but if they are a regular cola drinker, it may be worth cutting this out.

piratecat · 05/12/2013 09:34

hello Frau, we don't have fizzy drinks at home, she loves coke but only has it if we have lunch out.

the ONLY thing i can think of that was unusual, was on the evening just before the pain started i gave her a glass of orange/pineapple juice with some Spatone in it. She'd had a tummy bug last week, and run down, so doc had suggested more fruit (she hates fruit) and keep iron up. As Spatone is gentle, i bought some, and you have to put it in something, and it helps the absorbtion.

Uti's, are usually from bacteria tho, getting in the urethra. I guessed, slight lack of hygiene procedures may have caused it. ie when she was feeling sick she didn't have a full shower every day last week.

Poor little thing hope she is soon better. I think if she is prone to infections could be this again rather than another cause but worth trying all angles. If she is a bit run down anyway more likely catch something else.

SwimmingMom · 05/12/2013 12:58

How is she now? Any better? It's so hard to see them in pain Hmm

You are right Pirate - it's because of the infrequent showers. I tend to wipe down coz I know my DD is more vulnerable to UTI. Too many things to remember when it comes to girls, but they are so precious after all!

Let us know how she is getting along & if the meds were right. Hope she feels better soon...??

piratecat · 05/12/2013 13:38

when they are ill and in their pit, like she was last week the last thing they want is a shower isn't it. I know I sometimes skip one when I've been laid up with flu.

She had another wee just now, still painful x will ring surgery after 2 to see if the results are back on the wee. thanks for coming back.

it's not cystitis.

it could be thrush (no discharge) or some sort of infection/irritaion on the skin around urethra etc...

told me to finish the trimethoprim, she has one more day. so a bit of a puzzle really.

Hiya

Not sure it will be much use but i used to have something like this and finally worked out it was that i am allergic to concentrated squash - even one glass and i am in agony... all other squash is fine. seems to be linked to acidity, although juice and fizzy drinks are fine..

SwimmingMom · 06/12/2013 09:19

Pirate - any relief at all? And could you find out why it's happened?

Hope DD is better!

piratecat · 06/12/2013 10:47

hiya. thanks.

slight slight improvement, but i think it's thrush. i remember having thrush (no discharge type) and my clitoris hurting so much it was awful.

doc said finish course, it ends today. I will prob see about getting one of those thrush tablets if not significantly better by tomorrow.

we tried some canesten last night, around the where my wee comes out area, but she was screaming in pain. i can understand that.

Indith · 06/12/2013 12:29

Oh gosh the poor girl. If it is thrush then the ABS will really not have helped!

SwimmingMom · 06/12/2013 14:17

Pirate - you could try some mild local treatment with cool plain yogurt?

Poor thing, sounds awful. Hope something works soon.

piratecat · 06/12/2013 17:33

indith i know, great eh. Though i was the one convinced it was a uti.

At least they have stopped now. Will see how the weekend goes. x

just want to leave the area alone now, keep clean and fingers crossed eh.
