This evening, my DS got very over-excited playing with his dad (who had been at work all week and he hahdn't seen). He somehow fell onto his face from a kneeling position and has chipped half of his front tooth off. He was fine after about 5 mins and I've checked his tooth (doesn't seem wobbly). Taking him to an emergency destist this weekend.

We feel so so so awful about it. Apart from the fact it must of hurt him so much, it has changed his smile and it's making me feel so sad that is perfect little white tooth as been broken.

Will his tooth 'round out' a bit over time? Has this happened to anyone else?

my dd was running and laughin and fell onto the base of our terrace umbrella, when she was about three. She had her mouth open and there was an almighty crack but she didn't chip the tooth but pushed it in a bit. She was quite traumatised etc but Ok. What happened was later( it was the front tooth) it didn't fall out when it should have done.. at age 5 or 6. The dentist helped by wriggling it out because by then the permanent tooth was visible in her gum above the existing tooth. Otherwise not a problem. Then the new tooth just came down into the right position. Not the same problem but maybe it helps?

Hi Dolally. Will ask about possible damage to second tooth tomorrow. Good to know your DD's tooth was OK in the end.

Hi,

My two year old dd has just done the same thing -chipped her front tooth but I deserve a bad mummy award because I don't even know how she did it
It was only when I was giving her a cuddle on my lap and she looked up and smiled that I noticed it.(normally you can't see her top teeth when she talks - she has a small mouth)Anyway, I took her to the dentist who said that it would smooth out over time and would be a bit sensitive for a while but otherwise no worries. Hope your emergency dentist was able to reassure you.
