Walking sticks?

I know there's a few MNers who use them and was just wondering if anyone could recommend any to buy that are good and also not ugly.

Slowly coming to terms with the fact I'm not likely to magically get better and figure if I'm going to need a stick sometimes then I should at least get one I like the look of rather than feeling like such an OAP with my current borrowed one (practical but hideous)

Blingsticks! The lady who makes them is fab and so lovely, she custom makes them and they're so cool. I'm down to one crutch from two and hoping to move to a stick. I'll be placing an order soon, I hope. Wink

Haha wow, think they are a little too bling for me Grin But excellent news on moving to a stick!

I just have a folding one..LLoyd's chemist. Means I can have it in my bag and flick it out for when needed (I have episodic ataxia so can be find one mo and very drunk looking the next!) It's black and discreet, which personally I prefer as I feel too young to be sporting anything mega obvious!

Marking my place

I might go for a discreet black one, but kind of feel obvious with one anyway so tempted to find something a little different if possible.

I have two walking poles from The Cotswolds Company. I use one with a rubber end indoors ie shopping and a pointy ended one for grassy walks. They have a small spring built in which gives a bit of give when used. I find the pole grip easier on my wrists that a hook type handle ( hope that makes sense?). Also lots of people use poles sometimes so I hope it makes me look less obviously disables.maybe not!

DH uses a 'technical' walking stick made by the same people that do the walking poles, but with a shaped hand grip.

I have 3 different sticks, one by the front door and one in each car. I otherwise worry I'll end up somewhere without one. Not only are they a walking aid, they also act as a signal to others to stop them bumping into me. I also find it useful for leaning on when I'm standing still.

Mine are from Switch sticks. Sorry, not sure about website but they're easy to find if you google. The designs vary from smart to bright and colourful. They also have various handles and ones in petite sizes.

I also use a Flexyfoot on the bottom. It absorbs shocks and protects the shoulder.
