finger injury, any tips to speed clotting

I have cut my index finger on a sharp knive. While thankfully not dying, my finger continues to copiously bleed when pressure stops. Plasters are not sufficient to contain seepage. I am not going to A&E as it is not an emergency, (I have a nice slice in my finger, but it is not stitch worthy).
How can I stop the bleeding? Is it as simple as maintaining pressure for 30, 40, 50+ mins and not doing using that hand, or is there any other tips? thanks

Direct pressure and elevation - keep your finger above your head for a bit...

Same as puppy^^ pressure and elevation above the heart. once the bleeding stops use steri-strips across the slice to keep the edges together and try and keep it dry as much as possible.
However if the bleeding does not want to stop I would get to doctor or ooh clinic and let them either steri or stich it up.

Hope it's stopped bleeding by now. Keep it clean, dressed and dry for the weekend. If the skin doesn't show signs of healing or the wound is throbbing then go and see your nurse at the GP surgery on Monday.

Hope all ok now.....but the very best thing is the inside of an egg. So you crack the egg and carefully peel the membrane from the shell, place on your cut, the air dries it and as it does so the edges draw together. Makes a really neat finish on a jaggy edge. Sounds mad, but it definitely works
