Tbh it's driving me nuts, dh only works 3 ( sometimes 4 days a week), he comes home, eats dinner and falls asleep and on his days off he falls asleep, he keeps complaining of head aches but has refused to go to the gp. He's 45 years old, not overweight and is reasonably fit. I'm getting fed up with not spending any time together and him not doing anything to help me out at home but I am also worried that there maybe something ( other than work ) that's making him so tired, could there be something wrong? Or is he just lazy?

My DF is a little like this, although much older.... could he be anaemic? .. You should encourage him to go to the Docs especially if the headaches persist

UsedToBeNDP · 28/11/2013 21:18

GP and possible ref to neurology if they can't find anything

girliefriend · 28/11/2013 21:20

Would he take an iron or multi vitamin tablet?

He sounds anaemic and should go to the gp to have blood tests, why won't he go? Confused

Beastofburden · 28/11/2013 21:21

I was anaemic, it was like that. March him to the GP without the option, if it s something serious he will kick himself if he leaves it.

Marne · 28/11/2013 21:23

Will try and get him to the gp, he does suffer with depression but I don't think it's that ( he doesn't seem to ad at the moment ), sometimes he stumbles likes he's drunk but he says 'he's not dizzy' and blames it on his bad knee. The head aches have gotten worse the past few days and the pain is across the top of his head, he saw it feels like pressure under his scull.

He says he can't get time off work but he has Tuesdays off so could go then, he's just being a pain and refusing to go.

Type II diabetes - get his blood sugar checked.

It probably isn't that but he is the right age and the symptoms are right. High blood sugar after eating causes tiredness.

The test is easy. Just a pin prick test of his blood. Done in a jiffy.

PennySillin · 28/11/2013 21:30

Definitely needs a check up at the GP. When was the last time he had his BP checked? Will he make an appointment?

rosiecheeks2 · 28/11/2013 21:34

Marne, it could be high blood pressure.

mrsannekins · 28/11/2013 21:37

Sounds like 'typical man allergy to going to the doctors for something that could be serious actually, but if I ignore it, it might go away'.

Can I suggest you drag him there and sit on him until he is called in, it may be nothing, but sounds like he should be checked out regardless.

Marne · 28/11/2013 21:37

He hasn't been to the gp for a while so could do with a check up, he has been tested for diabetes before but was quite a long time ago, will try and get him to go next Tuesday.

Are his headaches in the same place each time? I don't wish to alarm you but my DS's brain tumour showed as very mild but always in the same place headaches, stumbling and sleeping at the drop of a pin, anywhere.

Please encourage him to visit his GP ASAP.

BillyBanter · 28/11/2013 23:26

Do your best to drag him there. If he resolutely refuses to go call the GP yourself and express your concerns.

waterlego6064 · 28/11/2013 23:45

Oh gosh, yes get him to go to the GP.

My experience is similar to minmooch's. (My dad rather than DS though). Lots of sleeping, stumbling/staggering (subtle), loss of appetite. No headaches though!

However, as you can see from the thread, there are a number of not-as-scary possibilities. Definitely needs to be seen though.

How is your DH Marne?
