My DD 13 months has had a horrid cough for 3-4 weeks now, the doctor says 'nothing we can do for a cough', but she coughs so so much when she is going of to sleep it makes her cry.
Any wonder cures any one ???

I'm sure you are doing all of these already but here goes..

Warm drink to sip between coughs, honey and lemon is soothing
Sit in a steamy bathroom with her
Prop up pillows
Vicks Vapour Rub on chest and back
You can buy these self heating packs from Boots. They have a little sachet in them with Vicks type stuff inside. You place a sachet ontop of one of the self heating pads and it releases the vapours all through the night. Can't use if you're pregnant though

Sy,pathies to your dd. I had a cough throughout my childhood. After visits to specialists etc all they could say is I would grow out of it, but still coughing 25 years later.

Sitting on my mum's knee in a steamy bathroom always made me feel better. Lots of hugs and kisses helped too

Hope she feels better soon

Is it a dry cough, or chesty? Is she coughing up mucus?

DD (3 1/2) and I have both had coughs for 3 months Im over the worst long ago, but dds got better then a lot worse Doc gave us both 3 courses of antibiotics (made me tired and dd hyper ) as it was a chest infection to start off with, but since a week ago dd is on gulpsud (sp?) decongestant, and antihistimines with little improvement.

You can get a cough suppressant specifically for night times that you can use from 13 months. It has the added benefit of making them drowsy. Your GP can prescribe or you can get some over the counter ones. We use Rhinathiol but I don't knwo it it is available in the UK.
I also use a humidifier during the night which you add eucalyptus oil to, and this eases the coughing.
