Skin Cancer (BCC) diagnosed at 8 months pregnant

So, I have had the misfortune of being told I have a BCC growing on my lower left eyelid. The tumor is 3.2mm and chances are they will need to take just over 1mm either side to ensure all the cancer has been removed. This will result in about 50% of my eyelid being removed and will have to be repaired with a skin graft from my upper eye lid. I am 32/33 weeks pregnant. I have two other DCs. I want to do this now as DC1 has medical issues which are ongoing but will need particular focus from January 2014, and the BCC has been highly irritating in the last 5-6 weeks, bleeding, itching like crazy and crusting over and in my opinion, growing more rapidly recently. Has anyone been in this position and do you know how to manage pain when 8 months pg (and therefore unable to take most medications)? I had no idea this was the problem - I have been told all along it was just a cyst, but grew suspicious and went to see an opthalmologist for which I am so relieved.

IME, skin surgery isn't too painful. I had a 9" long 2"wide nasty mole removed from my back and a graft and didn't need any painkillers. I know it's on your face Sad and you're probably very worried BCC is very curable though. I'm sure paracetamol will be ok, please ask your surgeon for advice though.

No idea to your questions, but so sorry to hear this??. That sounds very tough for you. I wish you all the very best and hope it gets done as soon as possible. What an ordeal in the late stages of pregnancy, can't imagine.

Hi, I had a BCC removed from my upper eyelid recently. Although it was scary it was actually all right. They inject to avoid pain and the only uncomfortable, but not sore, bit was the pulling of the eyelid away from the eye for safety whilst doing the op. it wasn't painful afterwards and I left the bandage on for as long as poss for it to heal.
If I was you would get it done ASAP so over and done with.
Good luck!

Ps only other point to note is that you will get quite a bit of bruising round your eye but worst bits only lasts a week!
