dd has had excema off and on since she was around 6 months old and it just is not getting any better. The worst bits are on her face, I use the stuff prescribed, it goes and then comes back with a vengence when I stop. Her face today looks like she has been burnt . She has a patch behind her knee and bits on her thighs.

Really getting me down and the docs seem to know next to nothing apart from telling me she will grow out of it when she is 1, well she is now 16 months.

Has anyone been in a similar position and been referred to a specialist or will I end up with another bag full of shite creams.

Thanks

Hi all,
sympathies to you all, my 4 yrs old DS suffers sporadically from all types of rashes which have all been diagnosed as eczma (Sp) not quite sure what they are myself.... but did find a homeopath in North London who makes up a cream for me and every time he gets a patch brewing (usually round face and back of his neck etc. i pop the cream on and it works a treat 24 hours later all gone. Anyone want more infor i will gladly give to you. Never go away with out my magic cream now!!!

thanks louli!
actually it doesn't really take as long as I'd have thought it would - much longer to describe what we have to do rather than do it IYKWIM. Harper looked after my dd's terrible ezcema 2 years ago and transformed her, so I have a lot of faith in him.
I'm glad your DS is under control now too.

oliveoil my ds1 had excema on his face when he was a baby - it wasn't severe but kept coming back. We had the steroids which would clear it up while using them (Fucidin from memory) then someone suggested using 'Allergenics' a homeopathic (I think - not steroids anyway) cream from Holland and Barrett, their Grandson suffered severely from excema. I bought it - cost approx £5 for a tube and his excema disappeared and never returned I would definitely give it a try.

My daughter is just short of 2nd birthday. Has never had any skin blotches/dry patches or skin problems of any sort. 2 wks ago developed a bumpy rash under the skin - not red all down one side of body - has now spread and is continuing to spread down legs / arms to hands etc. Is slightly red in parts but no "angry"" rash. Skin is very bumpy and atarting to feel dry in places. GP diagnosed exema but am unsure as I would have thought that if Es had been prone to Exema would have 1) known before now 2) first appearance would not have spread over whole body. Am now thinking about referral need to know what I am dealing wih - no history of exema in family and v concerned as does not yet seem to be "clearing" now 2 weeks since first appeared. Cannot think of anything different that she is in contact with!!!! Advice pls on simalar experience or best place to take her. Do not fel confident with GP diagnosis.

Dells, it sounds like it cvould be eczema. it can flare up at any time. it can take months, even years to clear ezcema. in some cases it never goes away but is controlled.

have you changed soap powder lately? or has the company changed it? we had majpr probs when ariel non bio changed their formula 2 years ago.

dd2 eczema started this year at around 18months old. dd1 was born with eczema.
