Botox for bladder - real info please?

Hello
I'm middle-aged and had a sporting injury years ago which has resulted in what my doctor has described as an overactive / twitchy bladder. No real issues during the day, but woken up at night 'to go' though nothing really comes out. Touches of leakage means lots of absorbent tissue. So having a partner to share the bed is not viable. Very embarrassing.

Have considered botox but would like to know

  1. How many people who've had it ended up using a catheter and for how long?
  2. How long did it work for?
  3. Any side-effects and assume that having a general anaesthetic cannot be continued more than say 2-3 times in 5 years? I really appreciate ANY help or insight you can give me. Yes, I'm a bloke but this is getting me down and to be frank is unsustainable in terms of getting enough rest for work and relationships. I can't really do pelvic exercises as the injury damaged nerves around the pubic bone and I don't want to trigger anything off. Best regards from the Nwest of England.

I had Botox in my bladder last year. Sadly it didn't help my overactivity, and have had other treatments since.
Didn't have to catheterise at all after.
There isn't a limit on general anaesthetic (within reason!). If the procedure worked for you they would keep redoing every 6-9 months. It can be done under local apparently, but is supposed to be quite uncomfortable.
If you have been offered it, I would say go for it. Best case scenario, it works. Worst case, you have to use a catheter, but this won't be permanent and wears off after 6-9 months.

Thanks so much for the info. I do have a concern about a catheter as being male it may be more tricky to use (sorry). If anyone else has more info., please do post. thanks to Ilovefluffysheep.
