How can I help ds, 3 weeks, who has a bad cold? Any point in seeing the GP?

Or are they just going to tell me to let him sleep propped up?
There's no medication he can have at his age, is there?
Just hope it won't affect his chest.

when my ds was newborn and had the snuffles they gave me saline drops (i think!) that you dropped in his nose when laid on your lap and it clears the snot away

Yes, they'll tell you to prop him up.

Saline drops in his nose, try to get some humidity going, and prop him up.

If it worsens and you think it has affected his chest, see the GP.

Can I just go to the pharmacy for saline drops?

Saline drops up the nose, sleep slightly propped up. You could put some Vicks in a bowl of very hot water and place under the cot (or near wherever he is sleeping).

Yes, em. They're called 'Little Noses' and I got some in Superdrug off the shelf.

thank you

If he can lay on his side sometimes it can help, too.

DD2 had a cold when she was just 2 weeks old. I'd swaddle her as normaly and lay her on her side w/two rolled up towels on either side of her.

Or you could get a snot-sucker

They work but babies do find them a bit startling!

I got that Little Noses stuff, thanks expat, and a snot-sucker is actually included - great.
