Hello

I have had on/off endometriosis for about 16 years. Have had various treatments, surgeries etc.
I have a son who is almost a year old and my periods have been properly 'back' for about six months. They've been getting worse and worse. I came on yesterday and it seemed a bit light, by my standards, I was quietly pleased. Today however, the pain has taken my breath away and the bleeding is ridiculous. I have soaked through four 'super' tampons, 3 pairs of knickers and two pairs of jeans, since about 4pm. Not sure what to do really. Ride it out or get doctors help/mere amid acid etc.

TIA x

hmm, that doesn't sound good. I'd go to the gp and get some drugs. is it tranexamic (sic) acid that reduces bleeding?

MummyIsMagic79 · 22/11/2013 21:26

My GP not back until Monday. I'm working in the morning at 7.30, am thinking maybe walk in centre after work. I feel so wiped out :( DH out for another hour or so, so just me and DCs. They're in bed though, 2 out of 3 are awake, but watching tv and being good, he he. Haven't the strength to do anything, though I need to sort the place out.

Take it easy, and maybe get some iron tablets? A walk in centre sounds sensible, could you go at lunchtime?

noteventhebestdrummer · 22/11/2013 21:33

I think you can buy tranexamic acid at a chemists without a prescription now

todaysdateis · 22/11/2013 22:42

Try the ultra tampons from lilets plus a night time towel - only lasts me 1.5 hours - but might stop the flooding, will certainly make you feel better in that there is less mess to clean up.

MummyIsMagic79,

Do not put up with it!.

I would try and see if you can visit a walk in centre today if there is one near you. Tell them about your previous endo diagnosis as well. You do realise though that transexamic acid and the like are only a short term stop gap and does not address endometriosis. It may be that you will need further laparoscopic surgery.

I would therefore also make an appointment with your GP asap with a view to getting another referral to a gynae. Do not let the GP mess around in ignorance. Endometriosis can and does recur and its likely to be the cause of both your heavy bleeding and pain now.

My work colleague was like you. She had to go home on many, many occasions, she would stand up and whoosh! She would get so upset as she hated letting us down. But she would flood through tampons/towels and end up in a right mess. Not normal at all!

She was taking medication but that becomes less effective over time apparently. She tried to have the coil fitted but her uterus is tilted so no joy.

She eventually had a hysterectomy in August (she is in mid 40's and family sorted) and she's never looked back.

Hope you get it sorted out. Take it easy till you do, sod the housework!
