I had a hospital appt with consultant for same thing. He spent most of the time trying to rule out what else could be causing the symptoms. It's difficult as they measure your condition by how you are feeling as well as what your bloods say and it's hard to communicate the former in a medical clinical way. I had to take two of my young children with me due to childcare disaster and he spent the whole appt telling me I was tired all the time due to being a mother!

I would therefore work out how to describe in a clinical way how you feel beyond the blood tests. My consultant switched off as soon as I said anything emotive/emotional about how I felt - he wanted facts and figures - i.e. how many times a day do you feel you might fall asleep rather than "Ifeel tired a lot of the time and it makes me feel miserable". Hope that makes some kind of sense!

He will give you a questionnaire or ask you a lot of questions about other factors to try and rule them out. THye also did a blood sugar test with me and various other procedures.

Good luck!

If you have not had a full thyroid screen, TSH. FT4. FT3, TPO and TgAB done, it would be a good idea to ask for one. If you have not had vitamin D, vitamin B12, folate and ferritin tested in primary care, you should ask for these as well as your thyroxine won't work properly if any of these are less than optimal.

If you have any recent test results, I'd be happy to take a look...
