I really don't want to go to the doctors.. So not my vagina, but the area above it, under my pubic hair is dry and sore and itchy. Been like this on and off for months, gets much worse when I'm stressed, clears up when I'm less so. Currently I have open, bleeding wounds, which isn't much fun.

What can I do? I've tried sudacrem, with limited success.

I had a problem that the Gp and meds didn't solve, went on for months and I also developed sores. You might be too embarrassed to do this but in the end I googled a diet for this problem and ordered a bunch of ice packs which I say twice daily if not more. That cooled the problem and allowed the sore bits to heal. It didn't go away immediately but it was an immediate relief. Poor you, hope you find peace soon!

Itchyvag · 20/11/2013 22:23

Nah it's not lichen sclerosis I don't think, it's not actually on my vulva but more on the skin on my pubic bone. It's just so annoying.

Sounds a lot like eczema.

Try using an emollient which will moisturise the skin and avoid using any scented products (bubble bath, shower gel etc) on the area and use non-bio washing products for your clothes and see if that helps at all.
DD got v mild eczema as a baby as we used some special oil in the bath, I now use a baby E45 bubble bath which doesn't irritate her skin.
If it doesn't clear up do see a GP, they really won't be bothered and won't make you feel embarrassed either.

Itchyvag · 20/11/2013 22:33

I will try that. I have actually changed our bio washing powder. Will see if using nonbiological helps.

Go commando at home (or out, come to that!) and let your muff have a breather. X

Long as you don't have to drive, because they make you drowsy, a day or two of antihistamines can calm down the itchiness.
Creams for nappy rash help too.

Mabelface · 20/11/2013 23:55

stop using shower gel and wash with aqueous cream. Smile

Megbeth · 21/11/2013 14:11

Lanacane cream can be used in that area for itchyness.

Thank you all. I think it's eczema too, having looked online seems to be a yeast thing? Which is like serious dandruff? I do get an irritated scalp if I use any shampoo other than head and shoulders, so I guess that makes some sense. So have continued with sudacrem, have E45 bath thing, have banished bio washing powder and cut my nails. Today it's weeping and annoying rather than bleeding and painful, but today is my day off, so always less stressful. Think I'm going to have to find an alternative to tights and skinny jeans.. Hadn't thought of anti-histamines, I'll give that a whirl at the weekend.

You might need a bit of hydrocortizone to help clear it, so a trip to the doc may be in order.

Beamur · 21/11/2013 21:29

You can buy mild hydrocortizone over the counter. Be careful using it there though!
Definitely lay off the tight clothes for a while too.
