Antibiotics - not taking full course

I was diagnosed with tonsillitis and given antibiotics. 500 mg penicillin 4 times a day. It started working within 2 days and throat back to normal size (still red with spotty bits but so much better) but about day 5 I started feeling v sick. I took less on that day and been taking 6 instead of 8 and I feel a lot better. Do u think my tonsillitis wii recur. I think I would have thrown up if I took 8 that day. Dr did warn I'd feel sickly.

Haven't you heard of antibiotic resistance? Hmm

Take anti emetics if you feel sick.

You need to take the full course or stop only on doctor's advice.

Take an anti nausea tablet or something if you feel sick.
If you stop taking antibiotics earlier than instructed you run the risk of the bacteria being able to mutate and become immune to the drug fighting it,
It then comes back stronger and more difficult to kill off so will need stronger drugs.

I get ill on anti-B's (usually after 48hrs) and end up floored in bed unable to do anything or eat. We've never found one that suits me. I had to take some last year and my GP said to stop when I get sick as long as the infection has cleared up.

Speak to your GP.

Yes you throwing up is more important than someone with CF living.

Seriously if you are not taking the entire course don't bother going to the GP. For most of us something like tonsillitis is not fun and can make you feel quite unwell. For some people it can kill them.

Antibiotic resistance is serious.
