recently I went back to a dance class to try to keep fit and tone up. I haven't been for a while.

Unfortunately it seems to set my right hip off and I find whilst I am dancing it hurts when I move in a certain way.

Should i stop this or will I get used to it.

i seem to remember my hip hurting before but then settling down.

I just don't want to do any lasting damage.

what kind of dance class is it?

if its salsa then it may be too much for your hips

I have long running problems with my pelvis and hips, and I do Lindy Hop two or three times a week.

My big tip (although obviously you have different problems and a different dance style) is SLIPPY SHOES.

Either get proper dance shoes, or stick suede on the bottom of cheap shoes, or stick duct tape on the bottom of cheap shoes (you do need to keep replacing that though) Keep your dance shoes only for inside.

It makes a hell of a difference. At first I used to just wear flat normal shoes, but the difference on my joints is amazing since I started to be fussy. It has also improved my dancing, which is nice.

Don't wear your dance shoes to nightclubs and go in the minging toilets with wet floors. Or walk round the streets of blackpool when you have got too drunk to remember you have your dance shoes on. Or lose them at least once a week. These are not good dance shoe habits :-D

I have Bloch split soles with a spin spot which makes a big difference in reducing joint pain.
