V&D - noro or just food poisoning?

I started feeling queasy at about 1o'c on a bus home. I put it down to travel sickness (had been foolishly faffing on my phone on the bus). I also felt very, very tired, but I had a crap night last night.
I got home and managed to nap for about an hour, before waking up and vomiting lots, quite explosively. Have some diarrhoea too. Feel quite a lot better since, although still tired, weak and shaky - but no longer nauseous.

Does this sound like noro, or just plain food poisoning? I'd eaten a chocolate bar about half an hour before nausea kicked in, nothing else since breakfast.

The reason I ask is because I'm not sure whether to try to get someone else to collect DS from nursery (am LP), or whether I should prioritise trying to avoid contaminating anyone else...

Although gosh, if it is noro I really shouldn't be going into the nursery to get him, huh.

I'm laid up with similar, winter bug, possibly noro virus possibly not? Recommend lots of sleep, freshly laundered bedding and nice baths. Has helped me lots. Re nursery pick up, if you have someone to help you out, grab it with both hands. Little people are very grubby so it's likely you got it from them anyway, but if not it's probably wise to avoid the risk. Lp I take my hat off to you, look after yourself and try and get well soon. Thanks Smile

I have D&V at the minute, it's been going on since Monday lunchtime, so I'm pretty sure it's noro, just wish I could start to hold some food down. Bonus is I weigh less than I have done for years !

If you can, get someone else to do nursery pick up, if it's unavoidable then try not to make any contact with other children/people. Aw bum, just thinking about it, DS has a pal coming after school tomorrow, I was so sure I'd be well by then, but it just keeps lurking about.

Thanks very much, and I'm sorry to hear you're both unwell - hope you're better asap. Flowers

I've just been sick again. My sister is going to fetch DS from nursery for me, thank goodness. Do you think I should just receive him at the door, rather than inviting her in to the house of sickness?

Also, DS is still bf, bedsharing etc. Is it an inevitability he will catch it if I am infectious? I so much hope I just ate something dodgy.

Not inevitable that DS will catch it, although highly likely. I caught mine from DS who had a much milder version of it last week, no vomiting for him.
Yes - try to keep away from people as much as possible, ring a plague bell or something.

Oh and if it's like mine then do not eat a thing until the sickness symptoms have completely gone. I keep thinking oh I feel a wee bit better, try to eat something and well you can guess the rest. Keep your fluid levels up, I'm afraid it is more likely to be non virus than anything else.
