I had a few throat infections over the last year and saw an ent doctor who lookwx down my throat with a camera and there was nothing to worry about.

He did notice a swollen gland in my neck, told me not to worry it would go in a couple of months. It didn't, so after 2 months I went to gp. she also said that because I am otherwise well etc she didn't think it was anything to worry about and it would go spontaneously in three months. Two months later it hasnt.

I worry about it and winder if it's normal? Or a sign of something more sinister?

I do feel tired and run down, but in context I don't sleep or eat great and have dc aged 4 and 6.

Are there any tests that would prove its nothing awful? I've had a full blood count blood test which was normal but I do have slightly low iron

Thanks all

Oh and the tiredness is nothing hugely awful, no different to most of us!

Have you had your thyroid checked ? Thyroid problems can cause tiredness and felling crappy. Is the swollen bit at the front just of centre ? Your thyroid is wrapped round your vocal cords and if it doesn't work properly it can also cause a swelling in that area.

I'd go back to your GP as 4 months is a long time to have a swollen gland and needs checked out.

Thanks cat....yes it is front of centre. Perhaps
I'll go.back.then as never had my thyroid checked. Thanks.

I have a permanently 'swollen' gland in my neck, just under my chin to the right side. I think it's a salivary gland. I had it checked out at hospital - they stimulated my saliva production, then attached a tiny tube to one of the outlets in my mouth and flushed a load of some liquid through. Not sure what the purpose of this was, other than to give me a neck like a toad for the day, but they determined that all was ok.

I've had a blocked lymph gland on my jawline for 25 years that goes up and down depending on whether I have a cold. Do persist, as my family doctor when I was a child would never quite explain what it was. Having something unexplained, even if it isn't causing an immediate issue, is worrying.
