"The paediatric radiologist has looked at Sebastian's X-Rays and although he cannot give a precise diagnosis, does not feel that he has achondroplasia, nor Asphyxiating Thoracic Dystrophy. He thinks that the thorax is probably normal, although the films are not perfect in their technical quality. He suggests some more X-Rays, which I will order when I see you again, together with a repeat chest X-Ray. He does think that Sebastian has some sort of dysplasia, but from his comments, it would not appear to be one of the major types.

I hope that this sets your mind more at rest, although I know how difficult it can be not having a specific diagnosis."

Don't know what to feel now. Sort of good news, I suppose!?

thanks mrsd, yes it's lovely to be able to cuddle him

Did I say he sleeps a lot? He's been wide awake now since about 7.30 pm - staring at me with big blue eyes...

Spots not a problem

St George is a great picture shrinker, haven't seen her tonight though - can't remember who else is good at it, may have to bump a bit!

BudaBabe · 07/07/2006 21:50

Does sounds like good news Emkana - but can imagine you are afraid to believe it.

Give Sebastian a big cuddle from his virtual aunties!!!!

LaDiDaDi · 08/07/2006 00:20

Lovely news emkana. That sounds really positive. xx

emkana · 08/07/2006 11:31

I keep wondering whether she means major as in particularly health-affecting or major as in one of the well known ones?

When do you go back Em? You need to write all these questions down, even the little niggly things. Don't ever think that a question is daft, if it's on your mind then it's worth asking.

Are you asking to be copied in on all the correspondence between the medics? You'll find it really useful.

WellKnownMemorablePeachyClair · 08/07/2006 16:46

Well, I wouldn't have said Jeunes was well known? TBH, I thought she meant severe but suppose may be wrong

WellKnownMemorablePeachyClair · 08/07/2006 16:47

Oh, feel free to e-mail me pic if you want- peaches and cream 04 at bt internet dot com, easy to shrink on our package

Miaou · 08/07/2006 16:55

em,that sounds pretty positive - wonderful! So glad they got back to you, and nice that they acknowledge that you are not going to go "oh phew, we'll forget it all now", as you are still on a journey of discovery.

I re-read the "major" bit and KWYM - I think in medical terms "major" would refer to "serious" as opposed to "common".

I will keep my eyes out for pics now!

emkana · 08/07/2006 18:58

Thanks for your answers.
I did post ds's picture on a member's profile thread!

emkana .. sounds very positive to me

major definitely means serious in medical terms AFAIK (much like chronic means long-term)

tamum · 08/07/2006 19:03

I would say very good news emkana
