My morning routine is up at 6:30 go to loo -cuppa tea and toast- 7:30 loo again. Get ready etc loo again at 8:30 before leaving for school run then again at 9 before taking the dog out for a walk and then i'm having to cut the walk short as i'm busting for a wee again.

The rest of the day is ok but I really want to start jogging with the dog on a morning (only time i get) but can't due to this problem.

I had my water tested about a month ago and it was clear of a water infection so what else can be causing it? I've been like this for years btw, but only noticed recently due to walking the dog where theres no loos.

Thanks

An overactive bladder, possibly. I'm on medication for it and it's changed my life, and yes, it is dramatic. Grin

Hi, thanks for answering! I didn't know that was "a thing" but having had a quick read up it makes sense. Did your doctor put you straight on meds or have you do the bladder exercises? (holding it for as long as you can to expand the bladder) I'm just wondering whether to try doing that myself, but if it doesn't work whether the doctor will insist I do it again "on the record"

I was given oxybutinin straightaway. I also had to completely cut out caffeine and alcohol. The change was overnight. I've not had to do the exercises, but will be on the meds forever. I don't mind that at all. I can tell the difference if I do have a bit of caffeine massively.

SillyTilly123 · 04/11/2013 18:17

I have 3 cups of tea a day, thats the only caffeine I have. Don't drink coffee, coke, or eat chocolate but would really miss my tea Sad Guess it would be worth it though. Thanks, think I'll ask the doctor next time I'm there for my pill.

Just switch to decaff tea. Those 3 cups will make a big difference.

SillyTilly123 · 06/11/2013 16:06

I've been monitoring my peeing the last few days, and I've noticed that everytime I go upstairs I go to the loo "because i'm already there" SO I'm assuming that has made my bladder shrink a bit, so what I'm doing now is waiting until i HAVE to go and drinking more water (the only fluids I drank before was 3 cups of tea) I'm going to see if this makes any difference over the next few weeks before I see the doctor about it. Thanks for the help. :)

Try switching to green tea instead. It's far less irritating to the bladder

Mabelface · 06/11/2013 17:50

Aah, you don't drink enough so it will irritate your bladder and make it twitchy. You can still drink decaff tea as part of your fluids, but definitely upping your fluid intake could help. Also good to wait until you need to go.

Have you been checked for diabetes? I think that can make you need to wee a lot.

SillyTilly123 · 13/11/2013 12:48

Hi and Thanks for all the replies. I've been "bladder training" for the past week and yesterday I walked 3x what I normally do with the dog and still wasn't bursting for the loo so its been a success! I also went over 3 hours this morning before i needed it and had a full nights sleep the other night (usually wake about 1-2am for the loo) and its such a relief not having to be near a loo all the time. Its still early days but going to continue "training" and hopefully will be "normal" soon :)

(I've not had a diabetes test, but seems to me like i just needed this, but will keep it in mind if I get other symptoms)
