Adult onset eczema

I have got a couple of patches of what looks very much like eczema. Never had it before, and can't think of anything I have particularly changed eg washing liquid, beauty products etc. The patches are on the side and back of my neck and onto my shoulder (one side only). Anyone else had something similar and have any treatment recommendations?

yes I developed it on and around my eyebrows. Nothing really worked until I tried a gluten free diet for other reasons, and this excema clearing up was one of the amazing and most pleasant side effects of going gluten free :)

It could be something else entirely, I would get it looked at before trying anything.

Ds just developed eczema at the age of 10 and that surprised me.

There are alternative diagnoses though - Dr thought maybe contact dermatitis from a plant - he said just moisturise and if no better in a couple of weeks, he'd prescribe a mild steroid but steroids obvs to be avoided if possible.

Is it definitely eczema?

Are you sure it's not shingles, being on one side of your body? (If you haven't had chicken pox, then it isn't).

I have had chicken pox, but thought shingles was more blister-like patches?

Do you wear nail polish at all? The areas where it is could be from something you have touched or had on your hands then touched your neck and shoulder.

It starts as a rash but you get pain the area too.

If it is eczema are you putting anything on it? A good emollient. If its red and inflamed you'll need a steroid cream to dampen that down. I'd get it looked at by the GP.
