Any sinus surgery success stories?

After two miserable years of constant infections, I'm having sinus surgery.

Any success stories? Particularly as to whether the issue recurred? I can only find bad news stories and would love good news!

I already sinus rinse, steam, steroid, no dairy bla de bla to no snotty avail.

TIA

I had a septoplasty 2 years ago, septum was grossly deviated and causing sinus pain and problems. It worked wonders, no problems since!

I had septoplasty three weeks ago, following a referral for repetitive sinus infections. They took away odometer lining (poss scar tissue) from the inside of my nose too. Even though I am still a bit congested, I already can tell it will be better. I know it snot the same op, but it. Was fine. I have several close friends who have had their sinuses done and definitely worth it.

Thanks swoosh and olive. I'm so pleased you have had success. I love hearing positive chat as people only tell me bad news...

I don't think my septum is deviated - my sinuses are just nackered....

Dipitydoyou - hello (and commiserations) from a fellow sufferer. Watch all you like! If you ever want to share moans/tips let me know. Is it fairly recent for you too?

FESS - to basically widen the sinus openings and clear out the crap.

I have had allergies for years and no sinusitis. My problems have all been since having kids so I wonder if there is a hormonal element (or lack of sleep....)

DH had sinus problems for years and years, then was prescribed a steroid inhaler (Mometasone Fluroate?) which has changed all our lives as he's no longer poorly all the time. Twas amazing.

I had Fess with septoplasty, polyps removal and turbinate reduction a year ago. My facial pain ( which never went) has gone and I can smell again and breath through my nose - all long lost before. Yes I have had sinus infections ( 3 in 14 months so not at all bad) but because they tested the infected material I know what antibiotics to use now so they have cleared up quite quickly. It took a while to recover ( I had 4 weeks off work) but then I have other health issues (making me a poor candidate for fast recovery) and had to be on corticosteroids to reduce the inflammation. I still need steroid nasal inhalers to discourage poyps regrowth.
Hope it all goes well for you!

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balloon_sinuplasty
This is meant to be a less invasive procedure.
