I found a lump down there...

I have been complaining at home about an ache down below. It feels like a bruise almost and I was joking about being punched in the vagina because that's what it feels like. I just thought I had sat funny or something really and expected it to disappear.

Anyway, after a couple of days of it still hurting I have explored and found a lump. It is a definite lump and it is located at the bottom of my bits on the right hand side, almost in the groin area if the groin goes that far down. Its on the outside, not anywhere delicate.

I'm not thinking it is anything sinister (hopefully!) but any ideas what it could be? It does ache and it is probably the size of a large marble. Could it be a pulled muscle or a gland or something? I've never experienced anything like this so not sure what to think.

A Bartholin's cyst probably, just get the GP to check it out.

LEMisafucker · 30/10/2013 14:29

i was going to say bartholins cyst too

Any news on this Dulcet? I have almost exactly the same, on right perhaps bit further into groin... It doesn't feel round, more elongated. Uncomfortable like you say, so not just a cyst? Think I should go to Docs or see if it goes away? Someone on another thread said it can be lymph nodes swelling on ovulation. But I thought they were definitely round and not painful.

DulcetMoans · 07/11/2013 17:58

No news really except its still there. Thought if no change after the weekend I will go to the docs.

Mine is defo round but is more in goin than other bits. If it is ov related why wouldn't we have noticed before...?

Odd!

Hot bath, a squeeze and pack a load of magnesium sulphate paste (cheap in any chemist) on it, with some gauze and wadding, and it should draw it out.

repeat until it pops.

pertempsnooo · 07/11/2013 18:33

Quote, That sounds scary... Have you done this?! (maybe I'm a wuss).

helzapoppin2 · 07/11/2013 21:47

Quote I don't think this would work with a Bartholins cyst because it is internal, not like a boil.
When I had one it swelled and deflated several times but eventually I had an operation to marsupialise it and that was the end of that. Sorry, TMI!

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 07/11/2013 22:33

yeah was going to say they are inside the labia. and fucking painful. mine vanished after dc1.
does it feel hot and tender? If so and is on the outside I would be doing the hot bath, mag and sound the klaxon.
but doctor mught be good idea.

Iworrymyselftosleep · 07/11/2013 22:36

Either bartolins cyst or a sebaceous cyst. Doctor definitely if its painful as they can get infected.

pertempsnooo · 09/11/2013 18:28

Marsupialise?? Dare I ask what this means?
I went to the GUM clinic (figured they know their stuff more than some of the new GP's at my doctors) and the doctor there sent me to the gyno. ward at the hospital. She said mine is a very swollen lymph gland and it could be drained. At the hospital they inspected and then said it would be best to leave it a week to see if it goes down. Otherwise it could be drained and then.. 'word' cathetered. Which from what I could gather is a take-away job and looks very uncomfortable.
Have you been diagnosed yet Dulcet?

Cuddleczar · 21/11/2013 07:09

There are other things it could be. One of my DDs had something called a parameatal cyst. It appeared as round painless lump near the opening of her vaj, but when they operated to remove it it turned out to be a cyst on the opening of her urethra (where the wee comes out). How old are you Dulcet? If quite young, it could be that, as that type of thing is actually present from birth and grows gradually. But if you are older, I'm sure there are other things it could be...def wouldn't try to squeeze it without knowing what it was!! Have you found out what it is yet?

pertempsnooo · 23/11/2013 12:30

Am happy to say my swelling has gone! No need for drainage!
