Bloating - excessively ??

Hi, sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place.

I've had some serious bloating going on for the last 3/4 days and it's getting right on my last nerve now.
It's from my tummy button down, not actually where my stomach is - so it's not from over eating.
I've drank peppermint tea as I usually do after meals. I don't drink fizzy drinks at all and have quite a healthy diet.
The only things that have changed - I've been using small amounts of sugar again after weeks of cutting it out and I've recently had to restart medication (codeine but I'm not constipated)

Has anyone else had this happen or react to sugar/medication this way?
Does anyone have any remedies please - I'm sick of looking like I'm pregnant because my tummy is sticking out that much :(

Probiotics might help.

Cutting down on wheat might help too even if you don't appear to have problems with it.

Codeine does usually cause constipation so you might need to address that soon.

My sympathy.

Thanks for the reply.

I drink Kefir daily so I should be full of Probiotics (I hope)

I'm on a low dose of codeine and have just recently re-started it as I do eventually have problems with constipation after long term use but I've never had bloating from it before - I shouldn't need them anymore in a another day or two.

Wheat, I don't eat a great deal but sometimes if I eat too much it can make me feel more bloated but also gassy with it (sorry TMI) but this time I'm only bloated. I'm going to seriously think about cutting it out completely, maybe for a month and see what happens.

I've stopped the sugar again from yesterday too - I only used it again as I had no stevia or any honey to use instead.

I'm feeling and looking slightly less bloated today but it's still a long way from normal.

Thanks again

Dandelion tea is brilliant for bloating

Cut out all the carbs - the wheat and the sugar, as well as any rice/potatoes/fruit.

AnyFuckersfrogslegs35 · 03/11/2013 09:52

I've never tried Dandilion tea, I usually drink peppermint to aid digestion so thanks for that I'll see if I can get some.

I can't follow a no/ very low carb diet :( although I do limit things like rice/pots/bread. I tried LC around a month ago, heavily increasing my fat intake and it resulted in a flare up of a long standing medical condition so I had to stop it stupid body My body doesn't manage high fat very well.
Sugar has already been stopped again, as have the codeine.
My tummy is almost normal at the minute.
I think I might start keeping a food diary, it may be easier for me to identify what makes it happen.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Do you do any exercise? That can help as well.

(BTW - I wasn't advocating that you follow a high fat/low carb diet - as you're not trying to lose weight - just that you cut out the carbs for a few days, to see if helps you)

AnyFuckersfrogslegs35 · 03/11/2013 15:29

Yeah I exercise regularly although have been out of action for 2 weeks because of an injury but I'm slowly starting again.
The reason I tried LC was to drop a little weight, which did start to happen quite quickly and I also felt better - tummywise after just a few days too, so I'm rather pissed off that I couldn't continue it.
Like I said earlier I'm still trying to keep my carbs low/controlled as much as I can.
Tummy still quite normal today so I'm hoping it'll stay that way.

Will have to broaden my search for Dandelion Tea - my local supermarket doesn't stock them and I don't have Holland and Barrett here where I live (outside UK) :(
