Ovarian cyst? Severe pain

Just been to the docs after 10 days of severe pain in my low left side just near the top of my bladder. I thought I might have caused a prolapse (I ahd a hyserectomy at 35 and still have floppy insides) from running, but doc reckons it's such a localised deep pain it's very likely to be a bleeding/ruptured cyst. He has given me tramadol and I'm waiting for an ultrasound appy to check and rule out anything more sinister.

It hurts SO much.. my back hurts, the bit just above my bladder is sending deep pain right through my vagina.. it's absolutely horrible.

How long is this likely to last? I've been mainlining painkillers for 10 days with little result but hope the tramadol will do the trick. Is there anything I can do do help myself?

I had ovarian cysts last year. The pain was horrible, much worse in the two weeks before my period. Any kind of exercise would make it much worse too. Paracetamol etc didn't work and I had tramadol too. In the end I had surgery to remove them. They were just ovulation cysts but my Fallopian tube was full of them so it was removed. Once I had the surgery the pain went. Surgery took a few weeks to recover from though.

For what it's worth the pain was so bad in made me nauseous x

Thanks for your reply..it does sound very much the same. Did it feel like pressure as well? I feel like I have a ping pong ball inside me as well as the pain:( The tramadol is horrible.. makes me so spaced out!

They are horrible and I used to find the pain worse at night. Self help wise I would suggest keeping on top of the pain with painkillers, hot water bottles are good, warm baths and gentle exercise.

Hope this helps and you don't have to wait too long for surgery.

PS Tramadol does have quite a few side effects. I was prescribed codeine sulphate and paracetamol which combined work quite well. However as the codeine makes you constipated, you do need to take movicol with it. Not ideal but worth a try perhaps if Tramadol unpleasant.
