Periods... How heavy is too heavy?

I'm having my first period post the birth of my baby 7 months ago. Currently going through a super plus tampon and a nighttime pad every hour. This seems a bit insane to me Shock

I remember being heavy last time but not this bad. At what point should I see the doctor?

Mine are like that every month for first two days. Got worse since having DSs. But I have fibroids and other stuff going on down there

There used to be a crazy definition of more than 80ml per period. That has changed now as no-one quite knew how to measure it (clearly they didn't know about mooncups but that is an aside...)

The medical definition is that if you are finding them too heavy to carry out your daily life without problems then that is too heavy. It's pretty subjective but I would suggest that if you think it is too heavy then it is.

It may just be since you had the baby. Wait a couple of periods and see if it settles. If not then seriously consider a mirena coil. I know they aren't everyone's cup of tea but they are great for heavy periods. (And I love mine so there!)

Thank you all.
It's not causing any pain so I guess not impeding me that much. Will see how the next couple of days go.
