she had her eye test today, as back in january she had a special one with a camera (all my girls were guinea pigs for the new camera equipment) which picked uop she was long sighted. so today she had the drops put in, and they didnt work!! So the optomolthingybob had to do her persc ription without her pupils being dilated. she has a perscription for lenses 1/3 weaker than she needs atm, as they want to get her used to glasses and redo the drops in 2months time to get a proper perscription done. even tho she doesnt have a squint now, if left they she would more than likely devolope one and then we'd have to deal with a lazy eye as well.

so we have picked out frames (well sparklygothkat did), and she should be wearing them in about a week.

she looks so grown up in them.

so now, tips of getting a 16month old used to glasses, anyone?

No tips specifically for glasses. When DS had to start wearuing hearing aids we just put them back in again very matter-of-factly. If he took them out 100 times a day (and he did to start with) we put them back in 100 times a day. It just wasn't negotiable.

this'll be fun then. they want her wearing her glasses fulltime by her next appointment in september.

we chose the frames with the curly bits round the ears.

No tips hun but my DD may be in glasses in the near future, she is now 15 months and has another test in 2 months they are waiting to see how she has improved since she was last tested (with the drops) at 3 months (she has Nystagmus) but they did say to me then once they realise they can see better with them they keep them on, she puts my sun glasses on (or trys too) but will only keep them on when i say 'pretty' to her then she marches off round the house saying pretty over and over until they fall off or she bumps into a wall!

in spetember they'll be double dosing on the drops, as they didnt dilate her eyes at all.

hope there is some improvement for your dd GeorgieVickyLou

She is Grand. Very independant and very adaptable, i'm sure she will be fine whatever the outcome.

I'll have to chase you up if she has to have glasses to get your top tips for keeping them on, it sounds like it would be a nightmare but you see loads of kids wearing them so there must be a way, i'm sure the optomolthingybob will have some suggestions if us lot don't.
