Endometriosis and sciatica

I have stage IV endometriosis but usually pain free since last laparoscopy 18 months ago when I also had a mirena coil put in.

I've developed really bad sciatica over the last few months and had extensive physio which has done nothing so I am existing on pain killers and waiting for an appointment with an orthopaedic surgeon.

However, I've just suddenly clicked the sciatica is much worse when I am premenstrual and have AF and then it settles (a bit) and so on. This month the pain was actually quite like endo abdominal pain just in my hip / buttock. That horrible stabby pain :(

Has anyone had similar?

I'm about to have treatment for endometriosis and always find my hips hurt at the same time each month. . Watching with interest

Sorry phone problem! Over the last 6 months I've been to docs with it. I suspect it's caused by endometriosis or adhesions from previous surgeries irritating the sciatic nerves. Especially as during my last laparoscopy, endo deposits were found on the uterine sacral ligaments.

However no one is certain. I was referred to musculoskeletal dept and was told I've probably got arthritis in my hips as they're quite stiff. Certainly it's possible but I'm not convinced. Doc also thought it might be connected with Ibs as I often have stomach pain and bloating.

I'm due to see gynae on Weds about the pain which interestingly has lessened recently. I've recently been told I'm menopausal so I'm wondering whether this has caused any endo to shrink thus lessening the pain?

Hope this helps and sorry if I've rambled on a bit.

Funnily enough my, at times severe Sciatica disappeared after I had an Hysterectomy for Fibroids, so Endo causing Sciatica makes sense to me.

Thanks all

I also have fibroids (the kind that grow on the outside of the womb on stalks apparently Shock) and endo all over the place (pouch of douglas, right ovary, bladder).

I would be relieved if I went into menopause tomorrow tbh.

I think I will go for the orthopaedic appt and mention the cyclical thing. It's the same hospital as my gynae so I guess they can have a chat about my rubbish insides if they think it might be related!
