Recurrent thrush - causes?!

Apologies if too much information - getting desperate. Can anyone help with this? As it is impossible to get a GP appointment for a couple of weeks!
After my past 3 periods i have had thrush. I thought it may be the new always scented pads but didnt use these the last time - only tampax and liners.
I haven't had thrush previously since I was 17! It clears with pessary and this time did an oral capsule so fingers crossed that will work as well, but obviously don't want this to be ongoing.
Any ideas in the meantime? I take a clonidine and baclofen as medication but a google search has brought no links with them and thrush.
I eat natural yogurt and wear cotton undies! Am getting desperate!
Any help greatfully received!
TIA

Have you treated DH?
You can catch it back from him.

Might be related to hormonal imbalance, if the problem continues it is worth a visit to GP and a check on blood sugar levels might be a good idea

Are you sure it's thrush? Some STIs can mimic the symptoms.

When I had the mirena coil I had thrush like symptoms frequently, I think it was the threads just irritating me internal - drove me crazy!!! Suddenly stopped to never return when I had it removed!

Are you sure it's thrush? bv is the bacterial equivalent and the symptoms are not that different. Don't take abs though use balance activ, much more effective. At least if you go to docs they will do swabs so (may) be able to tell you which it is.

Ok, if you are sure it's thrush this is what worked for me:

See your GP.

A full week of the 200mg pessaries at night plus cream.

Then a 500mg pessary every two weeks regardless of symptoms. This could be replaced with a weekly oral tablet.

Continue for six months.

Worked well for me. Have rarely had it since.

This clears stubborn thrush very well. The problem with these one off treatments is that although the symptoms improve the thrush isn't really cleared for some people. The vagina is the perfect environment for thrush so it can be difficult to eradicate.

Also your GP should eliminate diabetes.

Good luck. Thrush is miserable.

Hi thanks so much for the advice.
DM is diabetic so did a blood glucose and that was normal at 6.
I am sure it's not an STI as DP and they have no symptoms. Not using any contraceptive (DP is female).
The oral tablet cleared it rapidly this time, as did pessary time before so am thinking it is defo thrush to respond so quickly.
My DF said she had thrush recurrently and it helped by not using tampons - may have to try a moon cup!
matilda wow that sounds intensive am glad it worked. Did you get those on prescription? Was yours not clearing after a normal dose? Mine does then returns after period.
Yes your right it is miserable!

Thanks for advice.

Yes, absolutely on prescription. It's was a long time ago so the treatment may vary a bit but google it. I took an article to show my GP.

As I said, you probably are resolving the symptoms with the one off treatments but there will be residual thrush which kicks off again when your hormones fluctuate.

I was really quite desperate as I'd been getting it for ages.
