get him to drink water/milk and if he gets a sore tummy give him infacol which will help to disperse the bubbles.

Rhubarb · 03/07/2006 21:10

My mum used to wash our mouths out with washing up liquid if we swore and it never did us any harm.

(dribble, bubble)

expatinscotland · 03/07/2006 21:10

Hey, chapsmum is back from her honeymoon!

GeorginaA · 03/07/2006 21:12

hang on this is washing liquid for the washing machine not washing UP liquid, folks.

I'd phone NHS direct or your local hospital - they can tell you if it's toxic and whether they want to see you in A&E pronto, just to be on the safe side.

Rhubarb · 03/07/2006 21:13

Ooooooh! That's different!

spidermama · 03/07/2006 21:13

Hello March29,
My 16 month old chewed one of those plastic bubbles which have Ariel Bio in them. He was sick and it was clear he had managed to get quite a bit down. We assumed he had managed to sick it up but took him to AandE just in case, taking the Ariel box with us. They looked up the toxicology listing and said it was fine and sent us home.

spidermama · 03/07/2006 21:16

So I'm reasoning that if your dd has only licked it and it was non bio .... whereas my ds effectvely glugged bio, then she should be OK.

If you're still worried though, take her to A&E.

Personally I can't be bothered with NHS Diorect. All they do is ask you loads of irrelevant questions then make you go to A&E anyway. IME.

chapsmum · 03/07/2006 21:17

I was never away expat! we are going boarding in the winter!
Have been tied up with new job.

Seriously people, infacol! it disperses the bubbles!

GeorginaA · 03/07/2006 21:18

Erm - non bio - surely that's more artificial chemically stuff because there's no natural enzymes to break up the stains?

Seriously - phone toxicology at your local hospital

pootlepod · 03/07/2006 21:22

NHS direct were very good when I had to ask them a 'poisons' question. DD swallowed a small amount of Karvol last year.
They checked with the poisons database and their info was reassuring, useful and saved us a trip to A&E.

chapsmum · 03/07/2006 21:22

Seriously the toxocolgy website says give milk/water and infacol!

spidermama · 03/07/2006 21:46

I hear you chapsmum.
I have lodged the infacol info in my brain in case, heaven forfend, there's another toxic emergency chez spider.

chapsmum · 03/07/2006 21:48

chapsmum is grumpy, sorry!

lanismum · 03/07/2006 22:37

this is just the type of thing my dd would do, ill store the infacol advice away too, cheers

march29 · 04/07/2006 09:49

thanks all for your answers. we did phone nhs direct and they did ask the usual questions but in the end reached the same conclusion.. ie wash mouth and give loads of water. he seems fine just gave us a bit of worry thats all!
