The GP have me hydrocortisone cream but the pharmacist said it was too strong and definitely not to use it more than three days. I have tiny weepy sores, I've been using Sudacrem and some days they are ok but then they go itchy mad again.

It's been two weeks now Sad.

Help

Oh my god, I had this for about 10 years ( no exaggeration) I also used to get it underneath my bottom lashes.
I spent years using hydrocortisone with only temporary relief. I eventually went to the doctor (felt it was silly bothering them with this- I know mad!) and was recomended Aveeno moisturiser and It cured overnight and I haven't had it since. You can buy it in Boots. Don't buy the scented ones, the very simple one is the one you want.

Vaseline - when I had this every other cream hurt them even more.

Steep chamomile tea bags for half an hour, when cool, add ice cubes to the cup. You can put the tea bags directly on your closed eyes.

The steeped liquor you can soak cotton wool in and bathe your eyes with that.

Thank you, I've just seen Aveeno mentioned on another forum after having a Google. I'm being treated for Lupus at the moment and I don't know if this is connected.

Tested for Lupus, not treated.

I get this and what I've found that really gives some relief with the itching, is a flannel as hot as you can cope with, held tightly against the eyelids for at least 5 minutes.

cocoleBOO · 19/10/2013 15:51

Thanks whats I'll try that. I put Vaseline on last night and have got chamomile teabags to try.

They aren't too itchy today I took an anti histamine, but the upper lid has droopped really badly. If I didn't have long lashes holding them up I wouldn't be able to see!

depends what the cause is

I get it as a cat allergy (I like cats Sad ) and find that the allergy/hayfever OTC treatments settle it. Piriton, Piriteze, the own brands are much the same.

For the eyes only, the things you squirt up your snout act quickly, but the tabs or syrups last all day.

Perhaps I should get a bald cat.

Go to an optician and they will check the eyelids on a microscope and tell you what the cause is, so you can treat it appropriately. Just book an eye test.
I wouldn't say either hydrocortisone or sudacrem are the best things around the eyes.
If it is inflammation - blepharitis- cleaning with blephasol will help as would warm compresses, such as an eye bag.Allergy needs different treatment as does infection, so you need to find what is causing it.

cocoleBOO · 19/10/2013 16:22

I wondered if it was worthwhile going to an optician thanks for that.

I wanted the gp to see it because I've been to rheumatology and Lupus is suspected. Eyelid atrophy is connected to lupus (according to Dr Google) but he said I didn't have Lupus because "I'm always right. Hmm.

I can't figure out is the small sores are because the eyelid has collapsed so much and is irritating the skin or they are separate. The are in exactly the same place on each eye but aren't always there.

I might go across to Specsavers tomorrow if they are still bad and see I can can be seen.
