Has anyone tried the swedish/pillow method of preventing flat head?

Expecting DS2 in 3 months, DS1 has flat head on one side at 20 months and is noticable through hair. Not interested in the helmets as it's not worth that but if 'just' using a pillow can prevent this I'd try that.

Anyone had experience of this method?

Have found loads of old threads on this but can't find any reference to experience of using these pillows - any thoughts welcome!

Is this a 'normal' thing in Sweden? I will ask my Swedish friend tomorrow.

Thanks - help from your friend would be appreciated!

Apparently all swedish parents now receive advice to buy a pillow and how to do 'positioning' (making sure baby doesn't sleep on the sameside of the headall the time) when they have their version of parentcraft sessions. I'm just a bit dubious as I was always told with DS not to use a pillow as it can contribute to cot death. But then youthink, if a whole nation's doing it...?

My DS1 has an asymetrical head too so I used a "secure sleeper" which I bought from JoJo Maman Bebe for my DD1 to prevent a flat head. It has a foamy flat "pillow" and side supports to prevent them from rolling. The picture on the box shows the baby sleeping on his back but I used to lay my daughter on her side. We used it for about 6 months and her head is symmetrical. I think you can get them from a lot of places now. They have been used for a long time in Germany, and probably other European countries. My Swedish friend mentioned using a flat pillow - yes it is standard in Sweden - but I didn't like the idea of no support.

Thanks HP, that sounds similar to the one I've found from blooming marvellous - I'll have a look
