Normal behaviour

Every now and then my 1yo DS will tense every muscle in his body and shake. At the time he has incredible strength, only this morning his was pressing his cup handle into his face while having his episode and i couldn't wrench it off him till stopped.

Sometimes he does it when he's excited, like when he sees our cats or dog but sometimes it's seemingly random.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal behaviour or if not what other things to look out for.

Many thanks in advance

i think it's normal bc i've seen my friend's son doing it sometimes, but if you're worried you can casually mention it to your gp the next time you visit

ds does this occasionally, and other mums have mentioned that their sons do it too.

If he's doing it kind of deliberately (i.e. it's not any kind of involuntary convulsion, which would be a bit worrying), then I think it's ok and just one of those things that boys in particular seem to do.

I once taught a boy who did this. He was in Reception and did it when he was excited. I taught him again when he was yr 4 and he only did it when something incredibly, amazingly excited happened. I suppose that means that he will probably eventually stop doing it altogether.

Thank you very much, i feel alot better now.

My husband used to do it at water when he was about 2 or 3 so perhaps it's hereditary ?!!

I'll keep an eye on the voluntary versus involuntary aspect of it.

Thanks again guys
