Teething, thrush or both?

My 2 yr old dd has all 4 of her premolars coming through at the moment and is consequently rather dribbly. For the last few days, the inside of her lips has looked rather "soggy" IYKWIM, but because of the teething, I wasn't too worried by this, thought it would pass when the teeth come through. Nursery told dh today when he picked her up that she has thrush!

I'm not really sure what thrush looks like, but she says her mouth isn't sore, and there aren't any more white patches on the roof of the moth or cheeks; she isn't under the weather for any other reason, and hasn't been on antibiotics.

Do you think the nursery are right? Can thrush be set off by teething, or is this just excessive dribbling? Next doctor's appointment will be sometime towards the end of next week, if past experiences are anything to go by. I've put all her dummies and drinking cup spouts on for a good boil, should I be doing anything else?

All suggestions/ ideas appreciated!

Thanks, twiglett, dh managed to get dd into the gp's this afternoon, and it looks like it is thrush- well she's been prescribed nystatin suspension, anyway! The poor thing must be sore now, as she's crying when trying to eat strawberries, which are her favourite .

Hi - I'm quite new here but just saw this and wanted to say that my 14 month old has had oral thrush twice now when she's been teething. Once at 11 months when she got 4 of her front ones all in one go, then another recently when she got the first big molar.

She's really miserable with it, has v.smelly breath, and those soggy lips you mentioned! The nystatin clears it up but it takes about a week.

Hope this doesn't mean they're going to be thrush prone when they're older ....
