HELP - 18 MONTH OLD DD BEING VERY ODD

CountessDracula · 19/02/2004 19:41

Dd came home with her nanny tonight, apparantly had not had much of a sleep in the day (that's not so unusual) and seemed quite tired and grumpy. She had had a bit of a cough/cold for a few days but has otherwise been fine.

After dinner we watched a bit of storymakers and she was very quiet, just sitting there with me which is not like her. Then she started crying and wouldn't stop, not really screaming, just crying. I thought maybe she was teething as she has been grabbing in her mouth a lot, gave her Calgel and some calpol.

She just sat on my lap having a cuddle and crying and crying. I sang to her for about 20 mins and finally she stopped crying and when I looked she was asleep. But it took me ages to wake her up - calling her name and shaking her arm. She seemed very floppy and much much tireder than usual - she normally has stories/bottle etc and is very lively right up to going to bed and has never fallen asleep on me like that and been so hard to wake up

She has no temperature.

Do you think I should ring NHS direct or could it just be the calpol making her sleepy. She has also had 5ml of tixylix cough and cold medicine which can make them sleepy but she has had that the last 2 nights too and has been fine (mind you I gave it to her just before bed the last 2 nights and about 40 mins ago tonight so maybe that's it)

Oh god i hate it when they do things like this.

Poor little thing was crying again tonight. She has just gone off to sleep. Didn't really sleep again in the day and woke really early so I think half of it is tiredness. Oh and wouldn't eat any lunch or dinner.

To add insult to injury my ear thermometer has run out of batteries and f**king dh has just called to say he'll be late even though he promised he wouldn't be tonight. Grrrr. If it wasn't curry for dinner I'd give it to the dog but if I do I would just be up all night cleaning up dog puke

Poor old you, CD. It makes you miserable when they're sick doesn't it?

DD never had any problems with teeth except for this molar she's just got. Another 3 to go too!!

Hope you get a good night. And you can always send the curry over to me ... I won't make you clean up after me if I make a mess ...

Evita · 21/02/2004 12:28

How is she (and you) today CD?

Evita · 21/02/2004 12:29

By the way, how come you're a vampire?

CountessDracula · 21/02/2004 13:16

She is ok, still a bit teethy.

It's a long story, basically I had a 10 litre blood transfusion when I had a post partum haemorrage and WSM saw a picture of me looking very pale and said I looked like Countess Dracula (or maybe I said it, can't remember) so that was my name from then on!

Why Evita?

When my eldest DS has teething problems I found homeopathy helped (chamomilla) I just crushed it between two spoons and he took it fine. My youngest DS hasn't suffered too much thank goodness. Ice lollies work a treat too but maybe not at bedtime lol.
hope babies are over it soon xx

No reason, CD. I often wonder why people chose the nicknames they do on mumsnet. It struck me you might be a bit gothy or something like that, but no real reason other than curiosity. Nosiness.

I'm glad dd's better. Think mine may have molar no. 2 on the way but so far no real problems.

CountessDracula · 21/02/2004 23:50

no Evita, I meant why are you called Evita when I said "why Evita?"! !!

Juniper have been giving her Nelson's Teetha which does seem to help.

She is a LOT better tonight, think the horrid tooth might be through at last!
