I had a nasty cough/infection which lasted 4 weeks and took ages to clear (2 sets of antibiotics needed after constant fever - 2nd lot of antibiotics cleared it up). I had a bloodiest with a high ESR (over 80) so was sent for chest X-ray and "to take a bag". Anyway, was a bit of infection in left lung but only seen by general Dr who sent me home saying no point in being in hospital as other antibiotics to try and that the chest specialists would only be in Monday. Anyway, I got better but GP surgery receptionist called today to say I needed a repeat X-ray. I asked her why. She said cos the Dr said so so I asked her to check whether it was just to ensure infection had cleared up and also should I get the ESR checked. Anyway, answer was yes and to also have a repeat bloods done. I also pulled a rib but the pain in right side is going now. Is this standard? My husband had an X-ray following a persistent cough but he didn't have a repeat X-ray. Would u be worried? I'm slightly relieved its the receptionist who rang but I know the X-ray would have been evaluated by someone more experienced than Dr in A and E? Though it has been 4 weeks since the infection cleared. I know Dr did mention TB needed to be excluded but X-ray did not show anything of that nature an I have had a BCG. T
