My daughter started the beginning of this week with sores on her face, which turned out to be Impetigo, she's now on antibiotics and is clearing up nicely - poor thing, it looks everso sore and not pleasant at all - apparantely you have to keep them off school until 24hrs after treatment starts - I'm so glad it has happended this week - if she's had got it next week - I don't think I could cope with having her at home from school - 1 weeks school holiday is a strain itself !!

Hi

My ds has it too. it started as a tiny red blemish about a week ago and got progressively bigger. I had never seen impetigo before and assumed it was a cold sore. He was in school on Mon and Tue and nobody said a thing (teachers I mean).

I went to the GP yesterday as it started to really blister and crust and she said impetigo. He's now on antibiotics and cream. I am paranoid that his one year old sister will get it. It's really difficult to keep them apart.

You are lucky if your school lets her back. I have been told he cannot go back until it's completely clear (school policy) even though the GP said there was no reason why he couldn't be at school.
