I am not sure but I think I have read somewhere on here that they get a few teeth at the back around this age.

Or am I talking rubbish.

If it is not that does anyone hve any suggestions?
He is complaining that his right cheek hurts.

Thanks

he probably needs a filling

I think they get their last baby teeth around 2

then they get adult teeth around 6 or 7 so could be adult teeth but I didn't think they hurt

Please not a filling. He doesn't eat much c**p and is very good about brushing his teeth. However I have terrible teeth so it could be that

doesn't matter .. its fairly common for the enamel not to form completely on milk teeth which means they are very soft and prone to decay .. DS who's 5 has 2 fillings on lower molars because the enamel didn't cover them properly

ComeOVeneer · 28/06/2006 17:57

It could be an adult tooth coming through. The first adult molars usually come in around 6 but can come slightly earlier. They can be painful as they cut throught "virgin" gum behind the last baby teeth. Disorders of enamel development are quite rare. I would book an appointment with your dentist just to get it checked out.

My ds molars did'nt come through til he was 4, but I think it is unusual as his Dentist was astonished when he saw him, plus he did'nt cut his first tooth til he was 12 months

Thanks for the info. I will try to book an appointment with te dentist. Though I may wait to see if he complains again. As he can moan about the tiniest scratches

my ds had 2 back teeth come thru at age 5, and they have been on their way since he was 3. The dentist said they would just force through and push some of the others out. He is now 6 and his front 2 are wobbly. He would sort of waggle his jaw as it was aching and say he had "toothy pegs" can you see anything at the back?

LIZS · 28/06/2006 20:24

It is possible. There are "6th year molars" which may be coming through.

"When do the permanent teeth make their appearance?
The first permanent tooth to appear is the first permanent molar, called the 6-year molar as it generally appears in the 6th year. It comes in at the back, behind the two baby molars and there is no baby tooth to be lost in its place. The other teeth erupt (appear) from 6 through 13 years of age."

ds has just got the first fully through, quite late, at 8 and had it fissure sealed to protect it from decay. The others are partially through and will also be done in due course. Perhaps he should have a checkup. Otherwise sinus blockages can cause cheek/tooth pain.

Thanks for the extra messages, dh came home so I came off MN.

He hasn't complained about his cheek hurting again. Though this morning he complained his knee hurt to DH, school told the childminder he said his tummy hurt, then he told me his neck hurt. He was also very tired this evening.
In between all these aches & pains he was running around playing football etc. So I will just wait & see what happens.
