Hi all, fairly new to this, so bear with me! DS2 (14 mths) sent home from nursery today as he's showing symptoms of chickenpox. Poor lad has had a time of it - feverish Friday/Saturday, emergency doctor Sunday to be diagnosed with an ear infection, then Tuesday it's chickenpox!? My question is about his spots - I've read previous messages but none seem to mention this. how long do they take to form blisters? As he's been fevered a few days his excema has flared so can't tell if he has spots on his torso, but the ones on his arms and legs haven't blistered as yet, but do seem to be making him itch. DS1 had chickenpox as 2YO and I seem to remember the blisters appearing almost at the same time as the spots.... can anyone out there remind me how this goes - and do I need to be braced for a lovely big puss-y baby in the morning?! I feel quite bad for him as he's currently on the Calpol, Nurofen, Amoxycillin and I'm having to consider piriton as well - poor kid's gonna be doped up to the eyeballs!

Do you live near Posey ?

Poor you.
I too have started a thread on chickenpox this evening as dd has it (since last night). She's a bit older, 6.5, and I don't know the answers to your questions but keep an eye on the thread titled "chickenpox". You may get some answers there. Hope he's feeling better soon.

If he's itchy, I'd prioritise the Piriton. Made ds sleep beautifully! And his mild dose of chickenpox is over now. His blisters were OK, nothing horrific.

Thanks for that - just spotted the other chickenpox thread after I posted mine! I'm sure he'll be fine, but I've braced myself in preparation for a few nights with no sleep. My DP works nights as well, so it's only me wandering around at ungodly times of the night! I suppose having the ear infection for the past few days means he's already got a good dose of calpol in his system anyway...

Mine have got over it now, but dd2 got a mild dose, no fever, just vomiting, spots came out on Thursday am, by Monday she was scabby. DD1 had it worse, spots came on Wednesday am (300 of them!) went back to school by the following Monday.
