Wisdom teeth

I have an impacted wisdom tooth that is on the lower left that has grown in sideways and only partially. My previous dentist put a little filling type material in between the wisdom tooth and my back molar so that it would help stop the area getting decayed due to not vein able to clean it properly.

Yesterday at my scale and polish this filling fell off and it took a bit of my wisdom tooth with it. I am back at dentist today for it to be repaired but I am worried the fact that the remaining wisdom tooth is small and so the filler filling will now be really big. Does anyone else have this type of filling?

I also don't understand why none of my dentists have removed this tooth as I have mentioned it several times over the past 10 years with no one seing to think it was necessary but I don't want this to keep happening and more of my tooth come away. I have also read that after 35 wisdom teeth are harder to remove as lore likely to have nerve damage so as i am 34 does that mean I should consider getting it out sooner rather them later?

I'm not sure why they haven't removed it either.. I had an impacted tooth removed on each side and they were only partially impacted.

The dentist said to me that if they are impacted then they can't be cleaned properly, so only cause problems later (I kept getting recurrent infections).

If go back and ask them to remove it-seems to have caused you lots of problems and not worth it in my view.

Thanks for the reply. I spoke to dentist yesterday and he advised to redo filling where two teeth meet so I asked about it being removed and he said that they don't routinely remove wisdom teeth even if impacted unless problems occur and as mine has not caused any problems apart from this preventative filling that is why it has not been removed. He said it was my choice and that he could take it out but I wimped out and just had the filling replaced instead. I found it really difficult as when I asked him what I should do he said he couldn't say it was my choice but I felt that as he is the professional he should be giving me advice on what is best.

Just in case you need it, I had my tooth removed and it was fine and recovery was fine too. Had lovely soup for lunch and mashed potato for tea and no further issues with it.

Good luck and hope it settles down
