I don't have it, but I think the change in the weather may have a bearing. I know my previously badly injured knee gets a bit stiff when the weather changes.

sonlypuppyfat · 24/09/2013 22:43

Yes now you mention it my feet are killing me at the minute

mandmsmummy · 24/09/2013 23:00

It's weird isn't it. I actually feel I've been hit by a truck! Would welcome anyone's experiences x

My brother has it and has been agony today - I was blaming it on him having been away on a stag weekend but maybe I've been unfair to him.

mandmsmummy · 24/09/2013 23:04

What type does he have odd boots? X

YES. My hips and lower back are really painful these last few days. Dreading another winter like last one, when I was in unceasing pain for months.

Devora I feel your pain, mine is lower spine and sacroiliac joint. Chest has been achy too so hope to god it's not there, and tiredness oh my god! X

mandmsmummy · 24/09/2013 23:09

Korma isn't it awful? Would love to hear what type you all have, I'm still learning! X

And then there's the stiffness - sometimes I stagger up from my office chair and lurch along like a nonagenarian, horribly aware of appalled looks from the young 'uns.

OddBoots · 24/09/2013 23:11

His is enteropathic arthritis, he got ulcerative colitis when he was in his early 20s and the (related) arthritis followed a couple of years later. I've got osteoarthritis myself but only in one ankle so it's not much of a problem. What about yours?

Devora · 24/09/2013 23:14

I have bog standard osteo-arthritis in my hips, spine, hands and knees. My GP told me she was shocked, SHOCKED, at the extent of degeneration for my age [proud emoticon] [oh no, just remembered this is nothing to be proud of]. So it will be hip replacements for me within the next few years; until then I'm just trying to keep my weight down and keep up with the weight-bearing exercise.

I've taken up pilates but haven't been very good at keeping up with physio exercises. How useful have others found physio? Should I keep going with it?

mandmsmummy · 24/09/2013 23:15

Spondyloarthritis, imflammatory one. Not nice, worse with sitting, standing, laying. Better with movement. Battle with docs one says take NSAID and other says don't! So stiff and feel 97 not 37 :-( xx

Physio not really helping me, love Pilates tho and swimming if time. How about vitamins etc? Does anyone take these? Xx

I know two elderly people (80s/90s) who both swear they set back their arthritis by 30 years through diet. One (my grandad) insists that eating cherry pie and ice cream every day has done the trick, and who am I to argue Grin. The other sticks to an incredibly restrictive diet - no coffee, fruit, sugar, wheat etc - she sent me a copy and I looked at it and thought, You know, that is a life not worth living...

mandmsmummy · 24/09/2013 23:23

Blimey devora! Doesn't sound like fun! Mind you I'm willing to try anything at the mo! X

mandmsmummy · 25/09/2013 08:18

Hi babyjane!
I know what you mean about having to run around after little ones!
Pilates is fab, luckily I do a clinical Pilates so it's tailored to my needs. Trust me I'm not an exercise fan but the gentle stretching is fab!
Xx

babyjane67 · 25/09/2013 08:39

Oh rite so was it tailored for you by specialist, physio or gp?

TrinityRhino · 25/09/2013 08:45

I have hypermobilty syndrone
the bursitis in the my shoulders is flaring something rotten these last few days

I didnt think it could be the weather change
makes sense though Smile

mandmsmummy · 25/09/2013 08:46

None, it's a Pilates class run by a physio so there's lots of people there with problems like me. So it's much more gentle. Where are you? Maybe google clinical Pilates on my area? X

OP posts:
babyjane67 · 25/09/2013 09:08

Yea thats a good idea mandmsmummy.might try that!
Did you have to have a referral first or you did it yrself?
Trinity my dd has hypermobility.dont know if the weathers affecting it or if its starting big school with doing more pe walking etc but shes been alot tireder&complaining her feet&legs hurt more since she starte3wks ago!

mandmsmummy · 25/09/2013 11:19

Trinity, I have hypermobility too.

Babyjane, I saw a private physio first then joined Pilates, but could have just joined Pilates straight away. As long as the teacher has knowledge of your condition. Otherwise get a physio or doctor to write a letter explaining your condition. I'm lucky that my teacher knows her stuff! X

OP posts:
babyjane67 · 25/09/2013 12:51

Oh right ok.will google but will also ask physio when i see them i think

mandmsmummy · 25/09/2013 15:56

Let me know if you need any further info! X
