A dentist question.

I need some work doing, my two lower front teeth are crowns (about 12 years old), and they have worn down so much that they show the black metal on the tops of them. My NHS dentist has said she can't replace them as it is classed as cosmetic.

If I scrimp and save and get them done privately..
A) how much am I looking at?
B) will I lose my place at the fab NHS dentist by registering with a private one?

It's really getting me down, I feel so self conscious. Sad

No you won't lose your NHS place. Have you asked your dentist if she can treat you as a private patient?

If you have the treatment elsewhere I'd guess it would be about £350 per tooth. Some dentists offer payment plans or you could get an interest free credit card and pay the balance off monthly.

Don't think I would get a credit card, am at home as a carer to DS who has autism so no wages coming in. £350 per tooth!! Shock I just can't afford that. Sad

My usual dentist has been on maternity leave as wasn't keen on her cover, however she is back soon so will ask if can be treated there as a private patient (and think about where/how I can find the money for it).
