Got rear-ended today and want to know if it's possible to avoid developing whiplash or similar

or at least alleviate symptoms. Is it possible? I've already got pains in my hands, wrists and arms and a bit in my neck, but I thought if put loads of ice on them and then did a bit of stretching, it might encourage my muscles to not seize up?

And then I thought it might make it worse and I should leave well alone. Does anyone know what the best thing to do is?

I've been rear ended 3 times now - on the last occasion it was by a car followed by a van going into the back of the car, so 2 pretty major shunts. Never had any whiplash or similar.

I think the best thing to do would be to see your GP if you really think it's whiplash - and take anti inflammatories and pain killers.

rest, ice, painkillers, gentle movement.

Did you do anything specific SirChenjin? Did you put ice on your back or neck or anything?

No - just kept moving and painkillers. I'm not a GP so if you are worried about it you should probably make an appointment to see yours. Hope you're OK Smile

Thanks I'm going to see the GP this morning. Put an ice pack on last night and made sure I moved my neck from side to side etc. and it's not too bad. Just my hands and arms and ringing in my ear now!
