My dd had measles over Easter. The GP advised that she should be kept away from other children, elderly people and pregnant women until the rash had gone, or until 5 days after the rash started if the rash lasted longer than 5 days. She will have been infectious for a couple of days before the rash started.

If you have had measles yourself, then you don't pose a threat to the pregnant women at work - you can't carry it without having it.

thanks wwb, I don't know if I've had measles as a child. how long was yourdd ill for?
my manager at wrk its 6 months pregnant should i contact her? I'm worried I hope I havent unknowingly put her at risk.
my dd has only just turned one she was about to have her mmr in a few weeks.

If you have had measles yourself or if you have been vaccinated, you would not transmit the infection to the women at work. If you haven't had them, it would be a good idea to tell them that your dd has measles. Chances are, it isn't much of a risk for them, but if it were me, I would want to know.

Hope your dd is feeling better soon.

Hi ME23
Sorry to hear your dd is ill! Poor thing. Your boss at work is only (theoretically ) at risk if you have never had measles or the measles vaccine and she has never had measles or the measles vaccine...
And then only if you have it now, and have passed it on to her. All quite unlikely but if haven't had it might be worth talking to her...

My dd was poorly for about ten days in all, but the worst was over within a week. She was worse once the spots came out and was pretty poorly for about 5 days.

If you don't know whether you've had it, it would be worth mentioning to your work colleagues. It's likely that you had it as a child; could you ask your parents if they can remember whether you've had it?

Thanks (will emailu bluejelly) I don't remember if I've had measles vaccine.
although occ health did a blood test on 13th june to check my immunity so I could call them.
will call my manager now, I don't want to panic her though.
