Lumps in armpit.

Hi,

I discovered a small, painless lump in my armpit a couple of weeks ago. I visited the Dr last week, she stated it was very small, not to concern yet but if still there in four weeks go back for a breast examination. She did state to keep an eye on it check once a day (hard not to keep feeling it, hoping its gone) and to see if i get anymore. Today , 6 days after visiting the Dr I have woke with a small painful lump in the Armpit.

Should I go the Dr again tomorrow or wait for four weeks? I have taken paracetamol and I'm not noticing the pain so much. I'm 27 don't know if that makes a difference. I suffer from anxiety though and I'm already thinking the worst thoughts about it. Sad

Any help or info would be appreciated.

Go to possibly a different GP, and get it examined. You'll probably get some answers then.

Thanks for your reply. I have a small village surgery only one doctor. Should I go to an out of hours as it closes half day today. The local hospital (2 mins away) runs an out of hours surgery.

I would check if you are due and if you are keep a close check on it and see how it develops. However, no harm in going back and expressing your concern. Do you check yourself regularly? You know your body your doc doesn't.

I would go back and ask to have an ultrasound. If it is something sinister there is nothing at all to be gained by waiting, and if (as is most likely) it is something completely harmless that will go away, lthen it is far better to know that now and be able to relax. I had pain in my armpit a month or so back, and my GP thought the pain was from residual breast tissue, I paid to have a private ultrasound (about £150) as I didn't want the stress of waiting. It was muscular in my case, but just a huge relief to know it was nothing nasty. So go in again, explain you are very worried and ask for an ultrasound asap.

Thanks for your replies, I do check my breast and underarms as I shower. My breasts seem no different , just this one underarm. I did change my deodorant a few weeks ago, I don't know if that can cause this? I think I will leave it for 24 hrs and return to the doctor as I do get worried and suddenly start to experience other symptoms which are normally caused by my anxiety but I link to any health concerns. I will try an insist for a scan with my doctor.
