........is it possible to make accurate guesses at how much people drink and then give us meaningful information back ....

where do they get there figures from given that most people lie about how much they drink, if it's anything above the odd glass?

So would this not distort the figures somewhat?

I suppose they know how much is sold...

zippitippitoes · 23/06/2006 10:06

their not there

but that doesn't tell them how many people are drinking it or how much gets thrown away

No, you're right. Am work avoiding so posting random thoughts. Will go.

But it will give an ^idea*. There's probably some Lying Ratio built in - up by 20% whatever people tell you?

it just puzzles me obviously you can get your randomised sample and make it anonymous, but then those people might never come into the health death disease statistics if they don't get an alcohol related problem...I find the whole thing of scaling up interesting

sex statistics have a similar problem..it's all self reporting isn't it?

I've no idea I want an expert to tell me

not that i'm looking for a reason to disbelieve any figures, just can't see how they can be derived accurately

and there is now some research which says that obesity doesn't necessarily increase your risk of heart disease

I suppose you must have an idea how many drinks you have..but if they get the info from gps or hospitals or insurnace companies or telephone research i imagine it is grossly inaccurate
